The Spring allergy guide you need
Spring is here – and while we love the sunshine and blooming flowers, our pets might not feel the same!
Just like humans, dogs and cats can suffer from seasonal allergies, which can cause uncomfortable itching, red skin, sneezing, and even digestive issues.
Signs of allergies in pets:
🐾 Constant scratching, licking, or chewing
🐾 Red, inflamed skin (especially paws, ears, and belly)
🐾 Frequent ear infections or head shaking
🐾 Watery eyes or sneezing
🐾 Gastrointestinal issues like vomiting or diarrhoea
Nb. Some of these symptoms can also point to other conditions, such as infection or having ingested something toxic. If you spot new symptoms which are concerning, always check with a vet.
Common Allergy Triggers:
🌿 Pollen from trees, grass, and flowers
🦟 Fleas
🏠 Dust mites
🍖 Certain foods (common culprits: beef, chicken, dairy, grains)
🧼 Shampoos, perfumes, or cleaning products
How to Help an Itchy Pet:
✅ Wipe down their paws after walks to remove pollen
✅ Use vet-approved anti-itch shampoos
✅ Vacuum and wash bedding regularly
✅ Speak to a vet about allergy treatments like antihistamines
If your pet’s itching is persistent or they develop skin infections, don’t wait – chat with a vet any time for expert advice. 📲🐾
